Basketball Recap: Silver Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Silver had won two straight games and Taylianna Castillo did her part to make it three on Saturday. The Fighting Colts claimed a resounding 67-23 win over the Mescalero Apache Chiefs thanks in part to Castillo, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. Her big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Nyssa Tinajero was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played.

Silver's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Mescalero Apache, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Silver will head out on the road to challenge Cobre at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Castillo and Hayley Gutierrez. As for Mescalero Apache, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Capitan at 6:00 p.m. The Chiefs will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.89 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
