Baseball Recap: Musselman Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Musselman hadn't done well against Martinsburg recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Applemen skirted past the Bulldogs 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Applemen: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in April, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

Tannor Sharp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Taryn Boyles was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Wyatt McClintock was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Musselman pushed their record up to 13-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Martinsburg, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Musselman will welcome North Hagerstown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hubs will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Applemen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Martinsburg, they will be playing at home against Smithsburg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Leopards have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
