Volleyball Recap: Fort Calhoun Comes Up Short

Fort Calhoun lost against Conestoga back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pioneers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. While the Pioneers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-21 in the first set.

Fort Calhoun started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17.

Emilee Thayer-Mencke paced Fort Calhoun's offense, picking up 18 kills. Thayer-Mencke got some help from Sophie Weeks and her 39 assists.

Fort Calhoun has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-12 record this season. As for Conestoga, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Fort Calhoun will challenge Falls City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Conestoga, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Raymond Central on the 23rd.
