Football Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Scotus Shamrocks

Aquinas unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Scotus Shamrocks on Friday, falling 49-7. The Monarchs haven't had much luck with the Shamrocks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scotus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Thomas Settje, who rushed for 185 yards on only 12 carries. Settje's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Brody Lindhorst was another key player, picking up 136 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Looking ahead, Aquinas will take on Battle Creek on Friday. As for Scotus, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Mount Michael Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
