Volleyball Recap: Benton Central Starts Season with Win Against Tri-County

Benton Central had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Tri-County Cavaliers. That's more bragging rights for the Bison, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Benton Central was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-12, 25-11.

Madison Minniear was nothing short of spectacular: she had five aces and three digs. Another player making a difference was Bella Widmer, who had seven digs and two assists.

They weren't the only good server: Benton Central was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Tri-County's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Coming up, Benton Central will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tri-County, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Seeger at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
