Baseball Game Preview: Cathedral Fighting Irish vs. Mooresville Pioneers

The Cathedral Fighting Irish will face off against the Mooresville Pioneers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither Cathedral nor Mooresville posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Saturday, Cathedral needed a bit of extra time to put away Franklin Community. They skirted past the Grizzly Cubs 2-1. The Fighting Irish haven't had any issues with the Grizzly Cubs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Connor Christiansen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Sinsabaugh, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Mooresville's offense. They lost 10-0 to Franklin Community on Wednesday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Pioneers were not able to get on the board.

Mooresville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Cathedral, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Cathedral came out on top in a nail-biter against Mooresville when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Fighting Irish repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
