Baseball Recap: Williamsburg Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Williamsburg barely beat Moshannon Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Pirates put the hurt on the Black Knights/Damsels with a sharp 9-2 win on Tuesday. Considering the Blue Pirates have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

William Lower made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Konner Harker, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Clark, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Williamsburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moshannon Valley only managed three hits.

The victory (which was Williamsburg's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Moshannon Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Williamsburg will square off against Curwensville at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Tide have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Moshannon Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Tussey Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Black Knights/Damsels are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
