Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte Latin Hawks vs. Mountain Island Charter Raptors

The Charlotte Latin Hawks will challenge the Mountain Island Charter Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charlotte Latin is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Charlotte Latin had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Cannon on Tuesday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Cougars. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Graham Blanton tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charlotte Latin let Jack Bancroft and Jaden Hawa run wild. Bancroft scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Hawa scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Bancroft a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luka Kadijevic, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mountain Island Charter lost 15-5 to Pine Lake Prep on Tuesday. The Raptors haven't had much luck with the Pride recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Ryan Hayes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Patrick Blanchette was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Charlotte Latin pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Island Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
