Basketball Game Preview: Biddeford Tigers vs. Thornton Academy Trojans

Biddeford is 1-9 against Thornton Academy since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Biddeford Tigers will face off against the Thornton Academy Trojans at 7:30 p.m.

Biddeford is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Falmouth, falling 67-43.

Meanwhile, Thornton Academy had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They walked away with a 75-66 victory over the Vikings. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Vikings are ranked 57th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thornton Academy pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Biddeford, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Biddeford suffered a grim 66-46 defeat to Thornton Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Biddeford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
