Recap: Forsyth Home Educators Hawks vs. Phoenix Academy Firebirds
The Forsyth Home Educators Hawks waltzed into their game Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 42-33 win over Phoenix Academy.
Cooper Clontz was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Forsyth Home Educators' points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Grice, who scored no points along with six assists and three steals.
Despite the loss, Phoenix Academy saw an underclassman step up: Seneca Davis scored 12 points. Carson Davis was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Forsyth Home Educators pushed their record up to 8-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Phoenix Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forsyth Home Educators will face off against North Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in North Davidson's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Phoenix Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Community Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on January 30, 2024.
