Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones vs. Springfield Senators

The Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones will venture away from home to take on the Springfield Senators at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sacred Heart-Griffin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Sacred Heart-Griffin turned things around against Jacksonville on Thursday. They came out on top against the Crimsons by a score of 4-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Springfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Williamsville 3-2.

Tyler Elliott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 7.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Elliott wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Scheffler, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base.

Sacred Heart-Griffin's record is now 18-8. As for Springfield, their record now sits at 8-15.

Sacred Heart-Griffin skirted past Springfield 2-0 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cyclones since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
