Softball Recap: Windsor Drops Season-High Score on East Hartford

Windsor barely beat East Hartford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Hornets on Wednesday. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Sydney H was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenna N, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor T, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Windsor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Hartford only posted a batting average of .238.

The victory was the third in a row for Windsor, bringing their record up to 5-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Hartford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Windsor will challenge RHAM at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raptors have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for East Hartford, they will welcome Tolland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
