Basketball Recap: NCSSM: Durham Comes Up Short

NCSSM: Durham fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Southern Alamance on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Southern Alamance Patriots. The Unicorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, NCSSM: Durham still got an impressive performance from Ethann Burkett, who went 9 for 15 en route to 25 points and three steals. Burkett is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Chris Chen was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points.

Southern Alamance got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Warren out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Warren continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Stone, who posted 13 points and six boards.

NCSSM: Durham's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Southern Alamance, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.

NCSSM: Durham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-53 defeat against Franklin Academy on the 23rd. As for Southern Alamance, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Williams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southern Alamance is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
