Preview: Archer City Wildcats vs. Petrolia Pirates
Archer City and Petrolia are an even 4-4 against one another since August of 2014, but not for long. The Archer City Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Petrolia Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Archer City has played have been within five points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Friday, Archer City and Windthorst were almost perfectly matched up, but Archer City suffered an agonizing 28-27 loss. That's two games in a row now that Archer City has lost by exactly a single point.
Laine Hall put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Chance Warren also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Petrolia made sure to put some points up on the board against Munday on Friday. Petrolia claimed a resounding 49-6 win over Munday on the road.
Windthorst's victory bumped their season record to 6-2 while Archer City's loss dropped theirs to 3-4.
Archer City took their victory against Petrolia in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 27-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Archer City since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
