Basketball Game Preview: Harrison Central Red Rebels vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds

Harrison Central is 6-0 against Ocean Springs since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Harrison Central Red Rebels will host the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

On Tuesday, Harrison Central lost to D'Iberville on the road by a 61-45 margin. While the Red Rebels didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 13-9 in the first quarter.

Harrison Central's loss came about despite a quality game from Nehemiah Barnett, who posted 19 points. The dominant performance gave Barnett a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jordon Beard, who had eight points.

Meanwhile, Ocean Springs ended up a good deal behind Gulfport on Tuesday and lost 62-46. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Admirals are ranked 14th).

Ocean Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Harrison Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Harrison Central took their victory against Ocean Springs in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 65-45. Does Harrison Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ocean Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
