Softball Recap: Jackson Takes a Loss

Jackson came into this matchup off a tough seven-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Canfield Cardinals by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. The Polar Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Caidy Norris was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Ava Chevalier was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Jackson and nudges their season record down to 17-7-1. As for Canfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 20-4-1 record this season.

Jackson and Canfield are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Polar Bears will host Whitmer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Canfield, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Westlake at 5:00 p.m. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Demons have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
