Softball Game Preview: Gill St. Bernard's Knights vs. Bound Brook Crusaders

For the second straight game, Gill St. Bernard will face off against Bound Brook. The Knights will be playing at home against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Gill St. Bernard's has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, it was close, but Gill St. Bernard's sidestepped Bound Brook for a 4-3 win.

For Bound Brook's part, Isabella Marusiak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Marusiak.

At the plate, Bound Brook saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachael Gurczeski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Marissa Hays also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Bound Brook is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Gill St. Bernard's, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-1-1.
