Basketball Game Preview: Salem Hills Skyhawks vs. Wasatch Wasps

Salem Hills and Wasatch are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Salem Hills Skyhawks will be playing at home against the Wasatch Wasps at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Salem Hills is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 58-29 victory over Manti. The win was familiar territory for the Skyhawks who have now won three matches in a row.

Chenielle Nye continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Those 23 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Frampton, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Salem Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Wasatch made easy work of Spanish Fork on Friday and carried off a 52-28 victory. Given the Wasps' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Dons are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salem Hills pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Wasatch, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
