Basketball Recap: Cheney Tech Skates Past Goodwin RVT with Ease

The matchup between Cheney Tech and Goodwin RVT on Friday hardly resembled the 48-15 effort from their previous meeting. The Cheney Tech Beavers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Goodwin RVT Gladiators 85-55. The Beavers pushed the score to 70-38 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gladiators cut but never quite recovered from.

Cheney Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from J'Roose Orbe, who went 7 of 8 en route to 18 points along with seven assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Orbe a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Morales, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Cheney Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Cheney Tech's record now sits at 5-2. As for Goodwin RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheney Tech will challenge Sports & Medical Sciences Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Goodwin RVT, they will venture away from home to square off against Wolcott RVT at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
