Baseball Recap: Iowa Park Gets the Win

After losing to Boyd the last time they met, Iowa Park decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hawks came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 7-2 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Iowa Park let CJ McNeill and Layton Deluna run wild. McNeill scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Deluna scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Deluna a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Kane Decker, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Iowa Park's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Boyd, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-3.

Iowa Park and Boyd should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Hawks will take on Henrietta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (202 vs. 524). Meanwhile, Boyd (ranked 34th) will meet Ponder (ranked 1011th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
