Softball Recap: Abington Heights Wins Going Away Against West Scranton

Abington Heights won the last time they faced West Scranton and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Comets blew past the Invaders 14-3.

Laurenp Stalica made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cecelia O'Malley, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Isabelle Wilmot was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Abington Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Abington Heights' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Scranton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Abington Heights will head out to challenge Freedom at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Scranton, they will venture away from home to take on North Pocono at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
