Softball Game Preview: Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs vs. Upper Sandusky Rams

The Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Upper Sandusky Rams at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Our Lady of Mercy is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Irondequoit. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Eagles last Friday. The Monarchs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Upper Sandusky made easy work of Hopewell-Loudon on Saturday and carried off an 8-2 win. Considering the Rams have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Frombaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madison Wengerd, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Madison Hart was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Upper Sandusky was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive matches.
