Soccer Game Preview: Greenwood Christian vs. Crescent

The Greenwood Christian Hawks will challenge the Crescent Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greenwood Christian has three straight victories, Crescent has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Greenwood Christian's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Spartanburg Day. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by three goals or more this season.

Rylan Durbin and Noah Vahjen scored all three of Greenwood Christian's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Crescent came up short against Walhalla on Tuesday, falling 11-1.

Greenwood Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those three matchups. As for Crescent, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Greenwood Christian skirted past Crescent 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Will Greenwood Christian repeat their success, or does Crescent have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
