Basketball Recap: Rabun County's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Rabun County and Business Engineering Science Tech squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Rabun County had to settle for second. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Business Engineering Science Tech Eagles. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Rabun County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Huey Blalock, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 assists. Blalock is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last seven games he's played. Hayes Free was another key player, going 8-for-10 to rack up 19 points and eight boards.

Jacob Mickell was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds for Business Engineering Science Tech. The dominant performance gave Mickell a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Dozier, who posted 15 points and seven assists.

Rabun County's defeat dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Business Engineering Science Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.
