Softball Game Preview: St. Martin Yellow Jackets vs. Harrison Central Red Rebels

St. Martin is 2-8 against Harrison Central since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets will welcome the Red Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, St. Martin turned things around against D'Iberville on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Warriors 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Kiyara Lee, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Boney, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Harrison Central's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to West Harrison on Tuesday. The Red Rebels blew past Gulfport 10-1. The match marked the Red Rebels' most dominant win of the season.

Gabrielle Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kassidy Paris was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Emilye Seiferd was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

St. Martin's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Harrison Central, their win bumped their record up to 13-15.
