Volleyball Recap: Soroco Rams vs. Meeker Cowboys
Soroco lost against Meeker back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rams fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 3-2. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Soroco took Meeker into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-8, 19-25, 17-25, 15-13.
Alexis Iacovetto paced Soroco's offense, picking up 11 kills. Iacovetto got some help from Makinly Long and her 14 assists. Finally, Kolbie Pierce kept Soroco's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.
Meeker's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Sullivan, who had 12 digs, nine kills, and five aces. That's the most aces Sullivan has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braydin Raley, who had 23 digs and three assists.
Soroco's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Meeker, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Coincidentally, Soroco and Meeker will both be playing Rangely the next time they take the court. The Rams will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cowboys will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
