Basketball Recap: Valley Center's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Valley Center had lost three straight headed into Friday's contest, but Lincoln Zetmeir didn't let it get to four. The Valley Center Jaguars breezed by the San Pasqual Golden Eagles to the tune of 74-42 on Friday thanks in part to Zetmeir, who went 13 of 24 on his way to 42 points and six boards. That makes it 20 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Valley Center's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Dustin Hotchkiss, who went 8 for 14 en route to 22 points and eight rebounds. Those 22 points gave him a new career-high.

Valley Center's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-14. As for San Pasqual, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Valley Center Jaguars duke it out with the Escondido Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Center knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Escondido likes a good challenge. As for San Pasqual, they will face off against Rancho Bernardo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Bernardo will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something San Pasqual surely won't give up without a fight.
