Baseball Game Preview: Widefield Gladiators vs. The Classical Academy Titans

Widefield hasn't had much luck against The Classical Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Widefield Gladiators will square off against The Classical Academy Titans at 4:00 p.m.

Widefield can't be to happy about their upcoming road match considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Monday. They came up short against Pueblo Central, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, The Classical Academy never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over Middle Park. The Titans not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024.

CJ Mullen was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Maddox Awtry was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

The Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middle Park only posted an OBP of .143.

Widefield might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from The Classical Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can Widefield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
