California City hasn't had much luck against Bishop Union recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ravens will look to defend their home field against the Broncos at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If California City beats Bishop Union with 15 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Ravens' pitcher stepped up to hand Delano a 15-0 shutout on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Ravens as they're now sitting on five straight.

Aaroon Moreno made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because California City is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-5-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Hammer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two triples, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Kole Hightower was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
California City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Bishop Union came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Scorpions.
Like California City, Bishop Union also got a great game from a two-way player: Brayden Leeson. On the mound, Leeson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Aiden Frechette struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. At the plate, Leeson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Frechette scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Knox Moffet was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Richie Talavera, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Bishop Union pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for California City, their win bumped their record up to 7-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. California City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bishop Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went California City's way against Bishop Union in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as California City made off with a 9-2 victory. Do the Ravens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
