Baseball Recap: Thomasville's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Thomasville dropped their record down to 13-12 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 6-2 to the West Davidson Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-7 defeat back in March.

Thomasville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Travail Barnes, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Barnes is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

As for West Davidson, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On West Davidson's side, Thomas Hester made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Hester has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Correll, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Davis Lomax, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
