Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Crest Academy Ravens vs. Valley Center Jaguars

The Canyon Crest Academy Ravens will head out on the road to challenge the Valley Center Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Canyon Crest Academy has three straight wins, Valley Center has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Canyon Crest Academy is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since March 17th on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past San Dieguito Academy 8-7.

Jack Harkin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Henry Schmidt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Valley Center fell victim to Ramona and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0.

Jacob Janata spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

Canyon Crest Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-11-1. As for Valley Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Canyon Crest Academy took their victory against Valley Center in their previous matchup back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Ravens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
