Baseball Game Preview: Angola Hornets vs. Eastside Blazers

Angola is 2-8 against Eastside since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hornets will host the Blazers at 5:30 p.m. Eastside took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Angola, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Angola turned things around against Garrett on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Railroaders with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Hornets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jackson Steury was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Landon Leach was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Angola always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Eastside fell victim to Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Braves, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Blazers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Eastside moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Angola, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-9.

Angola suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Eastside in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
