Soccer Game Preview: Antioch vs. Newark Memorial

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Antioch duke it out with the Newark Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday... Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Newark Memorial will have to contend with a Antioch team hungry for a win, something the squad hasn't seen yet this season. Antioch came up short against Alameda on Saturday, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 883rd, while the Hornets are ranked 151st).

Meanwhile, Newark Memorial came into Saturday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They and Foothill finished up their match with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Newark Memorial's goal came courtesy of Nicolas Bran, which was the first he's scored this season.

Newark Memorial's draw gives them a new season record of 3-5-3. As for Antioch, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5-3.
