Basketball Game Preview: Wilson Tigers vs. Hartsville Red Foxes

Wilson has gone 8-2 against Hartsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wilson Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Hartsville Red Foxes at 6:00 p.m. Wilson will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Tuesday, Wilson earned a 47-35 victory over Lakewood.

Wilson found their leader in sophomore Logan Murray, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 boards. Murray's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Leah Spears, who posted nine points and four steals.

Wilson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 34 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Hartsville over Lamar in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hartsville blew Lamar out of the water with a 53-11 final score. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Red Foxes this season.

Hartsville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Wilson, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Wilson came out on top in a nail-biter against Hartsville when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 51-48. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Hartsville's Brooke Mitchell, who shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Wilson still be able to contain Mitchell? There's only one way to find out.
