Softball Recap: Kingsville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Wellington-Napoleon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kingsville). They walked away with a 19-16 victory over Wellington-Napoleon on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for Kingsville as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Kylie Stout, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Hannah Collens was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Kingsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Kingsville's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Kingsville and Wellington-Napoleon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 86th) will meet Concordia (ranked fifth) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Wellington-Napoleon will challenge Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (64 vs. 15).
