Baseball Game Preview: Elgin Owls vs. MacArthur Highlanders

For the second straight game, Elgin will face off against MacArthur. The Owls will take on the Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elgin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

MacArthur will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Elgin extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Owls never let the Highlanders get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.

Not much got past Jaxon Southerland, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep MacArthur off the board. Southerland has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elgin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tres Lorah, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Elgin pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for MacArthur, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.
