Baseball Game Preview: Palmer Panthers vs. Pathfinder RVT Pioneers

The Palmer Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Pathfinder RVT Pioneers at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Palmer has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Pathfinder RVT will arrive with four straight wins.

On Thursday, Palmer came up short against Monson and fell 5-2.

Palmer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zackary Marciniec, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Marciniec's first of the season.

Pathfinder RVT hadn't beaten Putnam Vo-Tech on the road since June 3, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Pioneers had just enough and edged out the Beavers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted against the Beavers since June 3, 2015.

Brayden Mega made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tim Russell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Grayson Griswold was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Pathfinder RVT's record now sits at 7-1. As for Palmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Palmer couldn't quite get it done against Pathfinder RVT in their previous meeting on Monday as they fell 5-1. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
