Volleyball Recap: Wesleyan Beats Mount Pisgah Christian for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Wesleyan waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Mount Pisgah Christian Patriots. This was payback for the Wolves, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Wesleyan got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-16, 24-26, 15-9.

Cassie Lohr was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted over her last six matches. Another player making a difference was Allie Godfrey, who had nine digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Wesleyan was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in seven consecutive matchups.

Mount Pisgah Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Emily Childress and Corinna Kelsh. Childress had 17 digs and two assists, while Kelsh had eight digs.

Wesleyan's win bumped their record up to 21-9. As for Mount Pisgah Christian, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 27-14.

Coincidentally, Wesleyan and Mount Pisgah Christian will both be playing Fellowship Christian the next time they take the court. The Wolves will head out to face the Paladins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Patriots will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
