Newfound Regional and Mascoma are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Bears will be playing at home against the Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Newfound Regional and 12 for Mascoma dating back to last season.

Newfound Regional is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs last Monday, they were much more limited against White Mountains on Monday. They lost 15-2 to the Spartans.

Newfound Regional saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abe Furtado, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Mascoma came up short against Hopkinton on Tuesday, falling 15-5.

Lucas Petty was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kane Bergeron, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Newfound Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mascoma, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Newfound Regional's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mascoma, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Newfound Regional continue to outrun the ball?
