Preview: San Benito Greyhounds vs. Weslaco Panthers
San Benito is on a four-game streak of home losses, Weslaco a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The San Benito Greyhounds will take on the Weslaco Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
San Benito suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 64-42 defeat at the hands of Harlingen. While losing is never fun, San Benito can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1100th, while Harlingen is ranked 147th).
Meanwhile, Weslaco came up short against Rivera on Friday and fell 37-26.
San Benito has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Weslaco, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.
San Benito took their victory against Weslaco in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 55-34. Will San Benito repeat their success, or does Weslaco have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
