Football Recap: Purcell Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Purcell extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-6. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 25-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Rock Creek Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 42-21 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Deaken Dobbins threw for 85 yards on only eight passes. Cash Cook was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards. On the ground, Braylon Francis rushed for 51 yards and one score.

As for North Rock Creek, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games.

North Rock Creek can attribute much of their success to Landon Rosser, who threw for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Rosser's passing game has become a key predictor of the Cougars' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Purcell will take on Star-Spencer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons will be up against the Bobcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for North Rock Creek, they will face off against Kingfisher at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
