The Windham Eagles will face off against the Falmouth Navigators at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Windham's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matches, but Saturday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
Windham managed to slip by Gorham the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Rams on Thursday, falling 8-0.
Meanwhile, while Falmouth put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Portland. The Navigators came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 5-0. The win continues a trend for the Navigators in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
Not much got past Milo Matson, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Portland off the board. Matson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Falmouth let Caden Berry and Nick Wyse run wild. Berry went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Wyse went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those two hits gave Wyse a new career-high. Tyler Simmons was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Falmouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portland only posted a batting average of .091.
Falmouth's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Windham, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Windham came up short against Falmouth in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
