Baseball Recap: Victoria West Comes Up Short

It was a classic East v. West duel when Victoria West faced off against Victoria East on Tuesday. Victoria West took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Victoria East. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Warriors, who until this match were averaging 3.75 runs allowed.

Evan Waters was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dominick Martinez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Victoria West's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-5-2. As for Victoria East, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

While Victoria West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
