Soccer Game Preview: Hopewell vs. East Lincoln

The Hopewell Titans will face off against the East Lincoln Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

East Lincoln will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Hopewell extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Titans' defense stepped up to hand Chambers a 9-0 shutout. Hopewell's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Lincoln). They blew past Statesville 9-0 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for East Lincoln in their matchups with Statesville: they've now won seven in a row.

East Lincoln's offense was hitting Statesville from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Lizzy Davis led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

East Lincoln pushed their record up to 17-1-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those eight matches. As for Hopewell, their win bumped their record up to 13-5-2.
