Soccer Game Preview: Chaminade vs. Loyola

Chaminade hasn't had much luck against Loyola recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chaminade Eagles will square off against the Loyola Cubs at 5:00 p.m.

Chaminade is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 6-0 to Notre Dame (SO). While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 922nd, while the Knights are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Loyola put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their undefeated season alive. They had just enough and edged Harvard-Westlake out 3-2. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Cubs were the better team in the second half.

Loyola's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five games. As for Chaminade, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Chaminade suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Loyola when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Chaminade was down 3-0.
