Basketball Game Preview: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers

The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edmund Burke Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Augusta Prep Day likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Edmund Burke Academy made easy work of Westminster Christian Academy and carried off a 60-38 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edmund Burke Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leila Eastmead, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals. Eastmead is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Palmer, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Edmund Burke Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-14, which was the final score in Augusta Prep Day's tilt against Gatewood on Saturday. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Gators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Edmund Burke Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Augusta Prep Day, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything went Edmund Burke Academy's way against Augusta Prep Day in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Edmund Burke Academy made off with a 45-21 victory.
