Football Recap: Springfield Falls Despite Big Games from Kale Thurman and Brody Scheffler + How To Watch

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenwood Titans. While losing is never fun, the Senators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Titans are ranked 32nd).

Springfield's loss came despite strong showings from Brody Scheffler and Kale Thurman. Scheffler threw for 256 yards and two TDs, while Thurman picked up 114 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

A big part of Glenwood's victory came down to the chemistry between Colten Knoedler and his top target Blake Lehnen. Knoedler threw for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Lehnen picked up 96 receiving yards and one score.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Glenwood, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glenwood, they will square off against Joliet Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
