Benton got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Haughton Buccaneers by a score of 48-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malachi Zeigler, who threw for 285 yards and four TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Greg Chambers helped Zeigler out on the ground, rushing for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also picking up 56 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Benton's defensive line and their five sacks. Beckett Moore was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. The Tigers (ranked 92nd) will meet Evangel Christian Academy (ranked 23rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Haughton will square off against Airline at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th with a big rank disadvantage (118 vs. 32).
