Preview: Payson Longhorns vs. Globe Tigers
The Payson Longhorns on the road again on Monday and play against the Globe Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Last Friday, Payson came up short against Snowflake and fell 54-44.
The losing side was boosted by Mikey Schinstock, who scored 20 points along with seven steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Anderson Hatch was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Globe beat Miami 58-54 on Wednesday. The victory was just what Globe needed coming off of a 81-45 defeat in their prior game.
Payson's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-7. As for Globe, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-15 record this season.
Payson beat Globe 82-69 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Payson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
