Preview: Greenbrier Wolfpack vs. Coffee Trojans

Greenbrier has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Coffee Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenbrier will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Coffee is ranked 21st).

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-20, which was the final score in Greenbrier's tilt against Ware County on Friday. Greenbrier was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-13.

Greenbrier's defeat came about despite a quality game from Vernon Guyton, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Coffee put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They didn't even let Jenkins onto the board and left with a 34-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Coffee, who have now won six matches by 21 points or more so far this season.

Coffee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fred Brown, who rushed for 167 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 69 receiving yards. Brown was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 69 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Paulk, who gained 133 total yards and three touchdowns.

Greenbrier's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.6 points per game. As for Coffee, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Greenbrier was taken down by Coffee 48-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Greenbrier avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
